Michiko Ohkura received her B.S.(1976) and M.S.(1978) degrees in Mathematical Engineering and Ph.D.(1995) in Advances Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Tokyo, Japan. She worked for some companies, and the Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT), Japan. She is now a professor emerita of SIT and is its specially appointed professor. She is also a visiting professor at Chuo University, Japan. She is a council member of Science Council of Japan, a member of The Engineering Academy of Japan, a fellow of The Virtual Reality Society of Japan, a Vice-President of Japan Society of Kansei Engineering, and a member of IEEE. Her current research interests include interactive systems, online collaboration, affective evaluation using biological signals, and creation of Kansei value, especially "kawaii."
